# Terms of Service

Effective June 11, 2026 | Version 1.0

These terms explain the rules for using The Ladder AI, including the welcome page, workspace, placement assessment, guided training, certification workflows, transcript evidence, and related pages on theladderai.com.

## Plain-Language Summary

Use The Ladder AI for learning, practice, assessment, and responsible exploration of AI capability. Do not misuse the platform, break the law, interfere with security, submit harmful content, impersonate another person, or present AI-assisted output as guaranteed fact. Schools, teams, employers, parents, guardians, and program administrators are responsible for supervising learners in their care.

## What The Ladder AI Provides

The Ladder AI provides AI literacy placement, guided training conversations, practical use-case training, product training, live oral-style assessments, independent validation review, credential records, and transcript-ready evidence.

Learning records, credentials, scores, and transcripts are designed to document training and demonstrated performance. Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, they are not professional licenses, college credits, government credentials, or guarantees of employment or mastery.

## Accounts and Security

Users are responsible for information submitted through their account and for keeping login credentials secure. Do not access another person's account, impersonate another user, or alter credential records that do not belong to you.

## Acceptable Use

You may not use The Ladder AI to:

- Break the law or encourage unlawful conduct.
- Harass, threaten, exploit, or harm any person.
- Upload malware or attempt unauthorized access.
- Submit hateful, sexually exploitative, violent, defamatory, privacy-invasive, or otherwise harmful content.
- Misrepresent your identity, school, organization, certifications, or learning records.
- Use AI output to make high-stakes decisions about education, employment, finance, legal rights, medical care, or safety without qualified human review.

## AI-Assisted Content and Accuracy

The Ladder AI uses and teaches AI. AI-assisted content can be useful, but it may be incomplete, outdated, biased, or wrong. Users should verify important information, especially where safety, law, health, money, reputation, employment, education, or a learner's rights are involved.

The Ladder AI content is educational and is not legal, medical, financial, psychological, or professional advice.

## User Content

Users keep any rights they already have in their submitted answers, training responses, assessment transcripts, feedback, reports, files, or other materials. By submitting content, users give The Ladder AI permission to host, process, display, analyze, and use that content as needed to operate, protect, support, improve, and validate the service.

Do not submit content unless you have the right to submit it. Do not submit sensitive personal information unless a specific workflow asks for it.

## Third-Party Services

The Ladder AI may use third-party services for authentication, hosting, analytics, AI model access, email, community, payment, or classroom tools. Those services may have their own terms and privacy practices.

## Accessibility

The Ladder AI aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA for public-facing pages and to provide effective access for learners, educators, employers, and visitors with disabilities. Current evaluation notes and interim recommendations are published in the WCAG evaluation document.

## Payments and Institutional Agreements

Some content may be free, paid, licensed to institutions, sponsored, or offered under a separate written agreement. Any price, renewal, cancellation, refund, procurement, or service terms shown at checkout or in a signed agreement control for that purchase.

## Suspension

Access may be suspended or terminated if we reasonably believe a user has violated these terms, created a security risk, harmed another user, infringed rights, or threatened the integrity of the platform.

## Updates

These terms may be updated as The Ladder AI changes or as legal, safety, or operational needs evolve. The effective date above identifies the current version.
